About
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by an outside force that affects how the brain works.
It may result from a forceful bump or blow to the head or body, or from an object penetrating the brain. Traumatic brain injuries can range in severity, and their effects may be temporary, long-term, or lifelong.
No two people experience a traumatic brain injury in exactly the same way. A person’s abilities and support needs depend on several factors, including the location and extent of the injury and how their recovery progresses. Individualized, person-centered support can help people build skills, adapt to changes, strengthen independence, and pursue goals meaningful to them.
Our specialty is supporting individuals with traumatic brain injuries, including those who have co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities or complex behavioral and medical needs. We use a person-centered, interdisciplinary approach that partners with physicians, rehabilitation specialists, therapists, behavioral health professionals, families, and support teams to maximize recovery, independence, and quality of life. Supports are individualized to each person's strengths, preferences, communication style, and goals while promoting safety, meaningful participation, and the highest level of independence possible.
At Redwood, every journey begins with the individual, not a diagnosis or label. Through our person-centered approach, we work closely with individuals, families, caregivers, and support teams to understand each person's unique strengths, goals, preferences, and needs. Together, we create personalized support plans that promote independence, meaningful relationships, community connection, and overall wellbeing.
Our services may include residential and home-based supports, day and community programs, employment and vocational services, community integration, behavioral services, crisis support, and care coordination. Delivered by compassionate, highly trained teams, these services are designed to help individuals live fulfilling, self-directed lives while remaining connected to the people and communities that matter most.

Every individual experiences life differently, and support needs often extend beyond a single diagnosis or condition.
