Charisma’s Journey: Achieving Independence Through In-Home Support

Charisma’s journey is a powerful example of how determination, family support, and person-centered services can help individuals pursue their goals and build the life they envision.

Through In-Home Services at On Angel Wings (OAW), a member of Redwood Family Care Network, Charisma began receiving support while attending her first year of college at Grand Canyon University. At the time, she was living away from her family for the first time and adjusting to life in her own apartment. Balancing school, independent living, and the responsibilities that come with adulthood was a significant transition, but Charisma approached this new chapter with focus and ambition.

With encouragement from her family and the support of her In-Home Provider, Charisma worked steadily toward her goals while strengthening the skills and confidence needed to live independently. Her support team helped provide guidance that allowed her to focus on her education and personal growth.

Over the years, Charisma achieved several remarkable milestones. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Writing from Grand Canyon University, followed by a Master’s Degree with a concentration in Women and Gender Studies from Arizona State University. Continuing to pursue her passion for helping others, she most recently completed a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

Today, Charisma is putting her education into practice as a therapist at a counseling and mental health services center, where she works eight hours per day, Monday through Thursday. In this role, she supports others on their own journeys toward healing and personal growth—an achievement that reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and commitment to her goals.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Charisma has also reached an important personal milestone: purchasing her first home. This achievement represents the independence and stability she worked so hard to build throughout her academic and professional journey.

Charisma’s story reflects the impact that thoughtful support and encouragement can have in helping someone pursue their dreams. Through the partnership between Charisma, her family, and her In-Home Provider, she was able to pursue higher education, establish a meaningful career, and create a home of her own.
