For many children, baseball is a cherished part of growing up. It provides opportunities to learn teamwork, build confidence, develop friendships, and experience the excitement of being part of something bigger than themselves.

In the Spring 2026 season, Redwood Family Care Network had the distinct honor of helping make that experience possible for a group of extraordinary athletes by sponsoring the very first Challenger Division team in Kent Little League (Kent, WA).

The Challenger Division was created to provide children and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in organized baseball in a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment. While the focus is certainly on learning the game, the true impact extends far beyond the baseball field.

Throughout the season, our athletes demonstrated courage, determination, sportsmanship, and an infectious enthusiasm that inspired everyone around them. Every practice, every game, every swing of the bat, and every cheer from the sidelines represented a meaningful step toward inclusion and belonging.

What made this inaugural season so special was watching the athletes develop a genuine love for the game. Many experienced organized baseball for the first time, discovering not only their abilities as players but also the confidence that comes from being part of a team. The smiles, celebrations, and friendships formed throughout the season reminded us all of the power of opportunity.

At Redwood Family Care Network, we believe every individual deserves the chance to pursue their interests, participate in their community, and experience a life filled with purpose, connection, and joy. Sponsoring the Challenger Division reflects our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities that help individuals thrive and live their best lives.

We’re deeply grateful to the local Little League organization, coaches, volunteers, families, and community members who helped bring this vision to life. Their dedication created an environment where every athlete felt welcomed, valued, and celebrated.

Most importantly, we want to recognize the players themselves. Their perseverance, positive attitudes, and love of the game reminded all of us why inclusion matters. They showed us that success isn’t measured by wins and losses, but by courage, growth, friendship, and the willingness to step onto the field and give your best effort.

As we celebrate the completion of this historic first season, we’re excited about what lies ahead. The success of this inaugural Challenger Division demonstrates what’s possible when communities come together to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and belong.

This season may have started with baseball, but it ultimately became something much greater. It became a celebration of ability, inclusion, community, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to shine.

At Redwood Family Care Network, we’re proud to have been part of this journey and look forward to supporting many more seasons to come.

Because every athlete deserves a chance to play. Every child deserves a chance to belong. And every community is stronger when everyone is included.
